His characters, Ira Kane, Harry Block, Lucy Mai, and Wayne Green must study all these extraterrestrials and find ways to defeat them all. The "Genus" is led by a "humanoid manifestation" named Scopes.

Character

  • Scientist Ira Kane - A biologist is fascinated by scientific discoveries and breakthroughs. His scientific knowledge, along with his excitement and passion for rapid evolutionary theory, helped him lead the team in removing the Genus.
  • Scientist Harry Block - Coach who always chases match scores, etc., and likes to train a women's team. His strategy helps the team to win.
  • Lt. Lucy Mai - A tough and aggressive lieutenant trained by a team of Special Forces called The Blue Baret. He believes everything should be done by the book, and if not explained in the book, they should avoid it.
  • Teenage "wannabe firefighter" Wayne Gray (whose name was changed to Wayne Green) - A 17-year-old firefighter. Being the first human being infected with foreign DNA, he developed a "sympathetic mutation", causing it to mutate parallel to the genus strain encountered.
  • Scientist Allison Reed has no direct job with the alienator, but is mentioned several times, not maintaining a relationship with Ira as in the movie.
  • General Russell Woodman is a pompus wind bag assigned to the mission of the alienator.
  • G.A.S.S.I.E.: Standing for "Genetically Transmitted Stimmers in Evolution", and is a team pet. It was a foreign cell originally neutralized by Ira. It evolved into a Gassie, a mips-like creature that behaves like a dog, which can detect and track other Genus creatures. When Gassie detected the Genus, he shuddered and let out a foul odor.
  • Scope is the leader of the Genus: Super intelligent and intends to take over the universe. Although it sometimes evolves into various creatures, the most common form is as an alien humanoid oxooid. His name is a reference to the Scopes hearing.
