Ctenophorus is a genus of lizards, also known as the dragon sling , which contains Australia's most diverse lizards group. Many of these have been grouped by similar morphology. The names and informal groups in this genus - rock, crevice-, ground, sand-, and bicycle-dragon - are named by mythological creatures, dragons.
The ctenophorus lizard may be confused with the Tympanocryptis and Diporiphora genera.

Polymorphism
The lizard of the genus Ctenophorus is known to display color polymorphisms, more than one type of color found in a population. It is believed that the color polymorphisms in this group have evolved as a result of a combination of sexual selection and natural selection.
