PCCMS founded the original Deer Valley Music Festival and changed its name to the Park City International Music Festival after a few years. After two years, Russell Harlow joined Park City Festival as co-director. When Utah Symphony started its own Deer Valley Festival in Park City, Park City Chamber Music Society divided Park City International Music Festival into two separate festivals and added concerts in the Salt Lake City area. The oldest classic music festival in Utah, Park City & amp; SLC Music Festival is famous for its chamber music concert.
The Utah Symphony was founded in 1940 by Maurice Abravanel and performed at Abravanel Hall, a modern concert hall in downtown Salt Lake City. The symphony was joined in 2002 with the Utah Opera Company, held in 1978. These organizations are the largest arts organization in the state. Some opera fans and orchestras claim that the combined quality of production will decline. There is a question about the late symphonic founder's desire. However, the critical response to the merger has been good.
Since 2005, every summer Salt Lake Arts City Council has hosted the Twilight Concert Series, which consists of concerts and weekly markets in Pioneer Park. The band spans across the Indie genre, including some heavy hitters such as the Simple Mouse, MGMT, Flaming Lips, Kid Cudi, Bright Eyes, and others.
