History
Jason Spaulding and Brett Vander Kamp, founder of New Holland Brewing Company, grew up together in Midland, Michigan, and then attended Hope College. On campus, Spaulding and Vander Kamp foster love for homebrewing, which will reunite them soon after graduation. Their business plan took two years to formulate, but once it was done, the couple quickly grabbed investors, and in 1996 New Holland was founded in Holland, Michigan.
Initially, the duo's goal was to produce a unique specialty beer for Western Michigan. Their beers were well received, and the company increased production to more than 5,000 barrels of US beer (590,000 l) in 2006. In 2007 the company increased production to over 7,500 US bbl (880,000 l). In 2012, Brewmaster John Haggerty left New Holland to start his own beer factory in Dayton, Ohio called Warped Wing.
New Holland began refining whiskey, rum and gin in 2005, and sold it in 2008.
