"Thunder" has reached number four on Billboard Hot 100, becoming their top ten hit. It became the ninth best-selling song of the year 2017 in the United States. The official remix featured American singer K.Flay.

Imagine Dragons performed the song at the American Music Awards 2017, in a medley with Khalid's singer song, "Young Dumb & Ampere", who joined them for the show. Approximately one month later, on December 20th, a studio version of mash-up was released.

It topped the Billboard Hot Rock Songs (nineteen weeks so far), Alternative Songs (three weeks so far), Adult Top 40 (four weeks so far), and Mainstream Top 40 (for one week) chart.
The song became the ninth best-selling song in the United States, with 1,189,000 copies sold this year.
