Yo Gabba Gabba! is a live action children's television show, starring five costumed live toys and their friend DJ Lance Rock. The series aired on Nick Jr. August 20, 2007 and ends on November 12, 2015. There is one topic in every episode, e.g. "Adventure", "Friends", and "Dance", through short song and storyline in a half hour program. In addition, this event teaches children's lives and social skills, such as sharing and trying new foods. It also encourages viewers to move together and dance with the characters in the program. The show is famous for its guest stars and indie-culture bands, and for getting visual inspiration from 8-bit video games and H.R. Pufnstuf , among other television shows. History
Yo Gabba Gabba! was developed by two Southern California fathers, Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz, who first started working together as teenagers, producing and directing skateboard videos. Their goal is to design entertaining children's shows while presenting real artists and real players. Both have no experience writing for television, let alone broadcasting or education of children. In developing the event they took inspiration from a number of sources including Sesame Street The Electric Company , Pee-wee Playhouse , as well as Sid and the Marty Krofft doll show Separate Bananas and HR Pufnstuf .
In 1999, after becoming a parent, Jacobs and Schultz began toying with ideas for children's television and produced pilots funded independently by small loans from friends and family. Yo Gabba Gabba! did not get much attention until it started circulating on the Internet. Jared Hess, director of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, saw the pilot online and recommended it to Brown Johnson, executive vice president and executive creative director Nickelodeon Preschool. Yo Gabba Gabba! was aired on Nickelodeon on August 20, 2007.
Production
The show is produced by The Magic Store and Wild Brain. Yo Gabba Gabba! airs on Nick Jr's cable network in the United States and the Nick Jr network in the United Kingdom & amp; Ireland, Italy, France and Australia as well as the Treehouse TV network in Canada, Disney Junior in Latin America and RTE2 in RTÃÆ' â € ° jr in Ireland. The series aired on August 20, 2007 in Nickelodeon as part of Jr. block. Nick, and began broadcasting in reruns of February 23, 2008 through November 2016 on Jr Nick's TV channel. The show was not updated for the fifth season.
Episode structure
All episodes follow a similar format. In the opening scene, DJ Lance Rock is shown walking on a plain white background while holding a gray radio with colorful buttons. He then gets to a table scene involving four different colored soils and a gray cloth underneath. He then put down the radio, and then he shouted "YOOOO Gabba Gabba!" and opened the radio, and inside there were 5 toy characters: Toodee, Muno, Foofa, Plex, and Brobee. He puts the numbers one by one, and then they come alive.
This episode features four main segments (it is shortened to three after the first season) that are connected to each other as plots. They involve DJ Lance and gabbas doing activities. After each main segment, a short clip is displayed showing a child dancing around. The boy said his name, followed by "I love to dance!".
Among the main segments, there is another segment called "The Super Music Friends Show", featuring performance by the band about episode topics. Other small segments include "Mark's Magic Pictures" and "Biz's Beat of the Day".
Four albums have been released featuring songs from performances performed by players and segments of "Super Music Friends Show".

Stage show
The world's first live concert tour Yo Gabba Gabba! took place in Australia in May 2009. DJ Lance Rock, Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee and Plex performed in Wollongong, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney with indie house bands and secret special guests at every show. Additional tours in the United States and other countries have been conducted throughout 2013. Events have been held including three presented by Kia Motors and one special Christmas presented by Citi, Just Dance Kids & amp; Toys for Tots.

Critical reception
On April 30, 2008, the television show received an Emmy Daytime nomination for Extraordinary Achievement in Costume Design/Styling. The show has been nominated for a good daytime Emmy in 2008 and 2009 for Best Costume Design. Time magazine James Poniewozik, who said the show "will convince you someone to slip something into your Fruity Pebbles" named Yo Gabba Gabba! one of the top 10 new TV series 2007, ranking at # 8. In November 2008, the production team of Yo Gabba Gabba! won the BAFTA Children's Award, International. The show also became popular among young school age adults as the artists are often featured. Due to the popularity of this event among adults and children, they performed at Coachella 2010 as a special guest. Their live tour event also won the Creative Content Award at the 2010 Billboard Touring Awards. The Television Critics Association Awards have nominated Yo Gabba Gabba! for Extraordinary Achievement in Children/Youth Program. The years include 2008-2012. Yo Gabba Gabba! win for 2009 and 2010. In February 2013, Yo Gabba Gabba! won two Kidscreen Awards for "Best Non-Animated or Mixed Series 2013" and "Best Music 2013"
