Sinopsis plot

John, Charles, and Jack were three Oxford scientists united by the death of Stellan Sigurdsson, mentor John, who subsequently received The Imaginarium Geographica, which recorded mythical and fictitious locations. When pursued by antropophagous, Wendigo plural, they were rescued by Bert, with whom they traveled on board the Indigo Dragon (captured by Bert's Aven's daughter), to Avalon, and then to Paralon, the capital of the Geographica Archipelago of Dreams, where they discovered the Islands in transition and found that their social order could be restored by the descendants of Arthur Pendragon. The desire to acquire the 'Ring of Power' of the kingdom, and thus the position of the king, is the 'King of Winter' (Mordred). After a visit to the 'Ordo Maas' (Deucalion) shipbuilder, the protagonist learns that the Winter King used the Pandora's Box to create the wraithlike 'Shadow-Born', his chief servants, from the citizens of the land conquered by himself. Afraid that the King of Winter can benefit by having Imaginarium Geographica, they visit his author, Cartographer of Lost Places, in his patronage, Keep of Time, where they find that their maid 'Artus' is a descendant of Arthur. Knowing this, they challenge the King of Winter to wage a battle, where the Elves, Dwarves, and Centaurs are still faithful, etc. Oppose Shadow-Born, Trolls, and Goblins while Charles and the evil 'Tummeler' closes Pandora's Box in secret. On the battlefield, Jack accidentally caused the death of Captain Nemo, while John and Artus approached the 'Ring of Power' (a stone ring that resembled Stonehenge) to summon the Archipelago dragons, who defeated the enemy. Mordred was cast from Edge of the World by the dragon Samaranth. After returning to his own world, John, Jack, Charles, and Bert are identified as J.R.R Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams, and H.G. Wells.

Character

A number of people referenced in this novel are members of Inklings, a literary discussion group at the University of Oxford, England, which produced several famous novelists.

  • John (J.R.R. Tolkien) is a former soldier, he became the 'Caretaker Principia' of Imaginarium Geographica after the former Caretaker Principa was killed. Initially unable to read Geographica , he finally became proficient at doing so, and afterwards guided the others.
  • Jack (C.S. Lewis) is the youngest of the three main characters, who have yet to enter university (Oxford). Initially he demonstrated the most imagination of all three; but his carelessness briefly sacrificed his integrity, and the life of Captain Nemo. After that he returned to their previous character, all the land conquered by Mordred's antagonist.
  • Charles (Charles Williams) is the editor of Oxford Press. Underestimated the lower antagonist 'Magwich', but gradually befriended the 'Tummeler' weasel.
  • Bert (HG Wells) is a former Imaginarium Geographica Board, along with Stellan Sigurdsson and JM Barrie, and identified with the historic Wells novel protagonist of The Time Machine .
  • Aven is the captain of the Indigo Dragon ship, in which the protagonists initially traveled; daughter of H.G. Wells by his character Weena.
  • Bug/Artus are boys who were stranded in Indigo Dragon after being released from three Norns services. The descendants of King Arthur, and thus the heir of the archipelago.
  • The King of Winter/Mordred/Captain Hook is an antagonist, desiring to conquer the Isles by controlling the shadow of his inhabitants, and finally the dragon guarding the Islands themselves. He was defeated by the dragon Samaranth.
  • Magwich is Mordred's spy and assistant, and previously an apprentice at Charles Dickens. He is constantly threatened and beaten by protagonists, among whom he briefly travels. At the end of the first book he became the Green Knight to protect Avalon.
  • Tummeler is the talking badger that accompanies the protagonist - finally to close the Pandora's Box by a Perseus shield (given to him by Samaranth), thus ending Mordred's 'Shadow-Born'.
  • The Order of Maas combines the characters of Thoth, Noah, and Deucalion. For him are the attributes of the lively Dragonships: Indigo Dragon , Violet Dragon , Blue Dragon , Orange Dragon , Yellow Dragon , White Dragon and Red Dragon (Argo modified). Advisor to the protagonist.
  • Samaranth is the first dragon. Like the Order of Maas, he advises the protagonist and (among other dragons) helps them in the final battle.
