Joseph Michael Kramer (born June 21, 1950) is an American drummer for the hard rock band Aerosmith.

Life and career

Kramer was born Jew in the Bronx, New York City, son of Doris and Mickey Kramer, an entrepreneur. His memoir, Hit Hit: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom Above, was released on June 30, 2009. Kramer is credited with the original name Aerosmith. In his memoirs, Kramer revealed that he secretly contained the name Aerosmith when listening to Harry Nilsson's album Aerial Ballet in 1968, two years before the band was formed. Kramer insisted that there was no connection between the name "Aerosmith" and the Sinclair Lewis Arrowsmith novel. Shortly before joining Aerosmith Kramer working with Chubby & amp; The Turnpikes (later known as Tavares) with Bernie Worrell. She made guest appearances in season 22 of The Simpsons, in the episode "The Ned-Liest Catch", as a former teacher partner of Bart, Ny. Krabappel, as told in the third season episode. Flaming Moe, which featured all of Aerosmith, the first band ever to be a guest star on the show. In 2015, Kramer tweeted about how he was made into a Simpsons action figure.

In June 2011, Kramer did a Q & amp; A and expressed his open mind to outside writers, stating that he did not care about it as long as all five Aerosmith members played the written material.
