National Electric Drag Racing Association (NEDRA), the Special Chapter of the Association of Automatic Electrics, and is there to raise public awareness of electric vehicle performance (EV) and to push through competition, advances in electric vehicle technology. NEDRA achieved this by organizing and approving electric drag racing events that are safe, quiet and attractive.
NEDRA is a drag racing fan coalition, owner and driver of electric drag racing vehicles, individuals interested in promoting drag racing sports EV, EV spare parts suppliers, EV manufacturers and companies and individuals who care about the environment. Working together as a group, we put the excitement in the drag races of electric vehicles.

- Maniac Mazda, is the Mazda RX-7 which can reach 1/4 times the speed below 12 seconds.
- Another example is White Zombie, a converted Datsun 1200 sedan that can win against the Dodge Viper and has a best time of 10.25 seconds for a quarter mile, ending at 126 mph.

Classification and division
NEDRA vehicles are categorized by class and voltage.
16 classes are determined by the extent of vehicle modification. It consists of subclasses of Street, Pro-Street, and Modified for Production and Conversion classes; Extreme Street, Funny Cars and Dragster; four classes Motorcycles; Vehicle Concepts; and two classes for educational projects.
14 voltage divisions range from "J" to 24 volts and below, to "A5" to 600 volts and above J.

In December 2017, the fastest vehicle in a 1/4 mile is Rocket, with 6.940 seconds ET and a trap speed of 201.37 mph at Virginia Motorsports Park in May 2012. This motorcycle became the first electric vehicle to penetrate 200 mph in a quarter miles. Don Garlits' Swamp Rat has a dragster record, with 7.274 seconds ET and a 185.6 mph trap speed at Bradenton Motorsport Park in August 2014.
