The first season RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars airs on the Logo network on October 22, 2012. Contestants from the original RuPaul's Drag Race show appear to play again. Cast members announced on 6 August.
This season featured 12 contestants who returned representing all four seasons. It aired six episodes one hour. Contestants are judged on their "charisma, uniqueness, courage, and talent", and because they compete in a two-person team, as well as "synergies." The winner receives a supply of MAC cosmetics, "one of a kind travel" and $ 100,000. The theme song that plays during the runway of each episode is "Sexy Drag Queen" (dootdoot 'doot-swift' Remix) and the song played during the credits is "Responsitrannity" (Matt Pop's Edit), the last of which is originally from the album RuPaul Glamazon .
The first episode introduces some changes to the rules for the All Stars competition. Queens competes in two teams, determined by the contestants themselves. Both losing team members will be eliminated every week. The bottom two select one member to "lip synch for their life". Non-sin synch team mates have options during the first minute of performance to declare "she-mergency", push panic button and "tag in" to complete the performance. RuPaul dedicates the first episode to the memory of Sahara Davenport, a former competitor in season 2 of Drag Race RuPaul who died of heart failure.
The winner of the first season Drag Race All Stars RuPaul is Chad Michaels, with Raven being runner-up.
