Throughout the 2000s, Canada Post has published a large number of stamps with different designs and themes. One of the major changes in this decade is that the Canada Post publishes a series of stamps each year. An example is the National Hockey All-Star Stamps. The stamps began in 2000 to commemorate the 2000 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto. The popularity of the stamps resulted in a series produced until 2005. Another example of the ongoing collection is the Lunar New Year stamp. Stamps have been released annually with different animals displayed each year. Unlike the United States Postal Service, Canada places the surviving people on its stamps. In the 2000s, such people included Roberta Bondar, Wayne Gretzky, Gerhard Herzberg, and Oscar Peterson.

In addition to producing its own stamps, the Canada Post produces a collection with a stamped design in mind. Clock, collector plate and lithograph have stamp design. Flowers are a very popular choice for this type of collection. The tulip stamps featured on the collector plate (Canadian item number 250437 and 250438) in 2004 and sold for $ 29.95 each. Canadian Orchid Stamps are used for the 2004 hours (Canada Post item number 314667) and sell for $ 19.95 each.

Please see the release of the Post Canada stamp (2005-2009) for each postage produced between 2005-2009.

Chinese New Year

Canada Post launched its Lunar New Year stamp with the Year of Buffalo in 1997. The popularity of the stamps produced a variety of products. One of the first collections made is the Stamp and Precious Coin Set. Although the price varies from year to year, the sets will come in presentation albums and display Silver Silver Silver Year silver coins of Canada for the year in question. Sheet souvenir stamps are included with certificate of originality numbered. The set began in 1997 and will continue through 2009.

In addition to stamps and coins, framed prints are also sold. Framed prints started in 2002 with the Year of the Horse. Only 2,500 prints were produced and Chinese Lunar New Year's souvenirs were officially canceled and affixed and numbered. There are also many stamp collections as well. Prices vary from year to year due to the increasing cost of postage stamps and the number of cut press sheets released.

The Lunar New Year Package is produced annually and features a collection of Chinese International Lunar New Year stamps. Stamps are from Canada, China and Hong Kong. Along with postage stamps, Chinese horoscopes for the same year, with subtitles in three languages, are displayed in packages/folders. (2002-2004 tariffs - $ 12.95) Two of the more expensive stamp collections are postage stamps from 25 stamps (2004 - $ 12.25) and pressed sheets (2004 - $ 16.95). Lower collection prices include souvenir sheets (fare in 2004 - $ 1.40) and first day souvenirs canceled (fare in 2004 - $ 2.40). Prepaid domestic and international postcards consist of other low-cost collections.

Choosing Canadian stamps

Although the Canada Post is responsible for the design and production of stamps, the corporation does not actually select the subject or final design that appears on the stamp. The task is under the jurisprudence of the Cap Counsel Committee. Their goal is to recommend a balanced stamp program that will have broad, regional and cultural appeal, reflecting Canada's history, heritage, and traditions.

Before the Canada Post held a committee meeting, he also welcomed suggestions for stamp subjects from Canadians. The idea for a subject that just appeared on the stamp was denied. The committee worked two years earlier and was able to approve about 20 subjects for each year.

Once the subject of the cap is selected, the Postage Stamp Product Group of Canada performs the research. Designs are assigned from two companies, both selected for their expertise. The design is presented anonymously to the committee. The committee's election process and policies have changed little in thirty years since it was introduced.

Any ideas for seals should be sent to: Chairman of the Cap Advisory Committee, Canada Post, 2701 Riverside Drive Suite N1070, Ottawa, ON, K1A 0B1.
