The first season RuPaul's Drag Race , later referred to as Drag Race RuPaul: The Lost Season Ru-Vealed , aired in the United States on February 2, 2009 , in Logo. Nine contestants were selected to compete in the run to "America's Next Drag Superstar." The first season was filmed during the summer of 2008. The winner of the first season won a $ 5,000 Cosmetics MAC, featured in the LA Eyeworks campaign, joined the Drag Race Logo tour, and won a $ 20,000 cash prize. One of the nine contestants to compete in Drag Race RuPaul, Nina Flowers is determined by the audience vote through the official website of the event. The result was announced in early September 2008. The theme song that aired during the runway of each episode was "Cover Girl" from the album RuPaul Champion . This season and the first season of the All-Stars is the only season not to feature "Snatch Game."
The winner of the first season Drag Race RuPaul is BeBe Zahara Benet, with Nina Flowers being runner-up.
At the end of 2013, the Logo airs back the first season, entitled Drag Race RuPaul: The Lost Season Ru-Vealed , and displays a comment from RuPaul.
Nina Flowers, Shannel, and Tammie Brown competed in the first season of All Stars . Nina and Tammie put the overall 9/10 together, while Shannel was placed 3/4 with a Jujubee 2 season contestant.
In the premiere season episode of All Stars, BeBe Zahara Benet was announced as the tenth contestant to the surprise. This makes Benet the first winner of the regular Drag Race season to compete again. BeBe occupies the 3rd/4th position overall with season 2 and season 3 Shangela contestants.
