Description

Dragon's Breath is made using colorful balls of cereal that are portrayed as having similar flavors to Fruit Loops. Cereal is dipped in liquid nitrogen and served in a cup. Eaters use sticks to puncture the ball. Once in the mouth of the eater, the cold liquid nitrogen combines with the warmth of the mouth to remove the steam that looks out of the nose and mouth.

According to The Straits Times, Dragon's Breath first appeared in the Philippines and South Korea around 2015, but gained popularity when the Los Angeles-based Chocolate Chair added it to the menu.

Dragon breaths were recorded for the consumption spectacle more than taste, with some publications commenting on their compatibility with the Instagram trend.

Security

Liquid nitrogen is used in some foods and drinks to freeze it quickly or for the resulting vapor. Its consumption poses some danger to humans. Extreme cold temperatures can cause damage to human tissue, and oxygen displacement by nitrogen can cause shortness of breath.

In a shop in Singapore in 2016, a woman is burned when desserts stick to her gums.

In August 2017, a South Korean boy was hospitalized and had to be operated on when the fluid remaining at the bottom of the Dragon's Breath cup caused a 5 cm hole in his stomach.

In October 2017, two children at the Pensacola Interstate Fair in Florida were wounded when dealing with or consuming Naga's Breath. A 14-year-old boy suffered burns on his thumb from contact with a frozen dessert. Another child suffered a second degree burn on the roof of his mouth. Following a complaint, the general manager of the fair announces the vendor will not be allowed to sell Dragon's Breath at the event next year.
