Lightning McQueen , usually referred to by its last name McQueen , is an anthropomorphic stock car in the animated Pixar movie Cars (2006), its sequel Cars 2 (2011), Cars 3 (2017), and a short TV known as Cars Toons. The character is not named actor and racer Steve McQueen, but is actually an animator Pixar Glenn McQueen, who died in 2002. His design is inspired by stock cars and the more plump Le Mans endurance racer, with some Lola and some Ford GT40. " During a scene where he helped restore Radiator Springs to its heyday in the 1950s, he was painted like a Chevrolet Corvette C1 1950s, again hinting at his Corvette lineage. The number was originally set to be 57, the birth year of Lasseter, but was changed to 95, the year of Pixar's first release of Toy Story .

Characterization
During initial research for the first film, John Lasseter met with General Motors designers to discuss new Corvette designs but subsequent changes to the storyline left both Lightning McQueen and Chick Hicks (BY) rivals and Bobby Swift, Brick Yardley, Cal Weathers and Jackson Storm ( Cars 3 ) as generic.
"He's a new rookie, he's a bit sexy, he's fast, he's different, so he's created We take the best of our favorite things, from GT40 to Chargers... just sketch them, we come with what McQueen looks like."
To create a cocky but fun character for McQueen, Pixar sees sporting figures like boxer Muhammad Ali, basketball player Charles Barkley, and football quarterback Joe Namath, and rap and rock singer Kid Rock.
"For other racing cars, we see how racing cars drive. For McQueen, we see surfers and snowboarders and Michael Jordan, great athletes and the beauty of how they move You watch Jordan in its heyday against every other player." , he plays a different game. We want to have the same feelings, so when they talk about 'rookie sensation', you see that he is really talented. "
The end result is a character who, despite the normally-careful approach to "truth to matter" in which each car animation is mechanically consistent with the capabilities of each model, can sometimes bend the rules to move more like an athlete than a car.
She is voiced by actor Owen Wilson on Car , Car 2 , Car 3 , Mater and the Ghostlight , Cars video games, Cars Toon Radiator Springs 500 Ã, ý , and Keith Ferguson in most Car Toons , National Championship Car-Matter , and Racing-O-Rama Car .
In the original film, McQueen was one of three contestants in the Piston Cup tiebreak race before the audience "more than two hundred thousand cars" in Los Angeles, California. At the beginning of Cars 2 , he has won four Piston Cup championships.

Mobil (2006)
Lightning McQueen is the rider who participated in the Piston Cup. McQueen is sponsored by Rust-eze Medicated Bumper Ointment, which uses its slogan, "With Just a Little Rust-eze, you can look like Lightning McQueen!" However, he quietly underestimated Rust-eze, and hopes to be elected to sponsor by the much more glamorous and successful Dinoco oil company. He believes Dinoco will offer to sponsor him if he wins the precious Piston Cup.
At the beginning of the film, McQueen is described as ungrateful, obnoxious, selfish, and sarcastic. It should be noted that he previously fired three crew chiefs. During the pit stop he stupidly dismisses the advice of the pit crew to change his tires because he wants to keep the lead. As a result, both rear tires scattered on the last lap. He narrowly avoided losing his race as he stuck out his tongue, leading to a three-way tie with the "The King" Weathers and Chick Hicks Strip. He then insulted the pit crew, leading them to desperately and suddenly resigned.
Preparing to leave for California for a tie-breaker race, McQueen begins to realize that he has no real friends. On the way, he selfishly forces his big rig, Mack, to get through the night, so they can reach California before their competitors. McQueen quickly fell asleep, because it violated his promise to stay awake with Mack. In turn, Mack becomes exhausted on his own. After an unfortunate encounter with the tuner car quartet, McQueen became separated from Mack, and the speed of the night in a desperate Mack quest, only ending in Radiator Springs, a forgotten city along Route 66 USA, where he was immediately arrested and confiscated.
At Radiator Springs, McQueen awakens, and finds himself taken to court for damaging Radiator Springs. Local magistrate Doc Hudson ordered McQueen to leave town immediately, but other citizens, including his local lawyer, Sally Carrera, voted to ask McQueen to repair the road as a show of power for community service, where Doc agreed. McQueen was then ordered to change the way, but instead, he tried to escape from the city. He was quickly recaptured and forced to change the way to regain his freedom. He did not do it right at first, but to rest, he tried to receive help from Doc, but scolded him. In the process, McQueen learns about the history of Radiator Springs and begins to connect with its inhabitants. The tow truck named Mater befriended him, and he fell in love with Sally. He also revealed an unusual history of Doc, who was revealed to be a former Piston Cup winner, whose racing career ended after a serious accident. After paving the way, and staying there, McQueen left Radiator Springs, and went on his way to California. However, he unconditionally delayed his departure to show appreciation to his new friends by doing good deeds. During his time at Radiator Springs, McQueen's personality slowly began to change. He begins to care about others rather than just himself and no longer insults them. He's also not as proud as he once was on a race track.
During a tie-breaker race in California, McQueen can not stop thinking about Radiator Springs and his new friends, causing him to lose focus. Soon, he was surprised to see that Doc Hudson and some of his friends had followed him and took on the role of his pit crew. Inspired by the words of encouragement from Doc, McQueen raced with new beliefs. When Hicks tried to knock him down, he recovered by doing the moves he learned from Doc and Mater back at Radiator Springs.
During the last round, the Piston Cup is clearly within reach of McQueen. Hicks, realizing he'll finish in last place, strikes Weathers from behind, sending him to a dangerous accident. On the Jumbotron track, McQueen witnessed the accident behind him, reminiscent of an accident that ended Doc 52's career the previous year. To help Weathers, McQueen quit suddenly before reaching the finish line, essentially losing victory. McQueen is still praised for his unselfish sportsmanship, so much so that the owner of the Dinoco Tex Racing Team offers to hire him to replace Weathers. McQueen refuses, realizing that he must remain with Rust-eze's sponsor as a reward for managing to get him where he is. Tex respects his decision and instead offers to help him. McQueen uses help to board the Dinoco helicopter for Mater, fulfilling Mater's dream.
McQueen returned to Radiator Springs to set up his racing headquarters, returning the city to the map and bringing success to all his friends. He continues his relationship with Sally and becomes a student of Hudson.
Car: The Video Game (2006)
In the Car: The Video Game, written by Pixar and considered a continuation of the story that began in the movie, McQueen found himself at the start of the next Piston Cup season. With the help of Radiator Springs residents, McQueen prepares to begin his quest for the Piston Cup, taking lessons in powersliding from Doc, improving from Fillmore, and retiring from Mater. With his new skills, McQueen once again made the championship in the Piston Cup, very annoying Chick Hicks irritation.
Afraid of his title in danger, Chick enlists help from The Delinquent Road Hazards - DJ, Boost, Wingo, and Snot Rod - the same rowdy car that plays McQueen to Radiator Springs, to hijack McQueen racing equipment from Mack on Interstate 40. McQueen can pick up his equipment and take the criminals to court before winning the next race, which sends Chick into a frenzy. Lightning Challenge Girl to Grand Prix at Radiator Springs, followed by another Piston Cup race at L.A.. McQueen won this event, picked up Piston Cup in her sophomore season.
In the end, McQueen, Mater, and Sally decided to make a celebration trip across the country. When asked if he brought the trophy, McQueen noted that he did not do it, but left it in a good spot, revealed at the Doc Hudson clinic next to three Piston Cup belonging to the racing legend itself.
Although McQueen is still sponsored by Rust-eze, players can unlock McQueen with Dinoco's paint job while playing as he does in Story Mode, Arcade Mode, and VS. Mode.
Car 2 (2011)
Five years after the first film, McQueen, now the four-time Piston Cup winner (2007-2011), returns to Radiator Springs after a successful racing season. He is happy to renew his friendship with Mater. McQueen's pause was disrupted when he was recruited to participate in the first World Grand Prix, sponsored by former oil tycoon Miles Axelrod to promote his new biofuel Allinol. McQueen initially declined but was openly derided by Formula One racing car Francesco Bernoulli. Mater intervenes to defend McQueen, leading him to reconsider and join the race. Mater hopes to participate in the tour and, despite concerns about Mater's meddling behavior, McQueen is reluctant to agree.
In Tokyo at a pre-race party, McQueen was embarrassed by Mater's antics and she began to regret taking it. Soon after, Mater was unknowingly trapped in spy missions with Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell. This led to more antics during the first race, which initially dominated McQueen. However, Mater's miscommunication finally made him fight. Upset, McQueen confronts Mater, and tells him that he does not need his help, and ends their friendship.
Disappointed, Mater decided to return home, leaving a heartfelt apology for McQueen, making McQueen feel uneasy about being too harsh. On the way home, Mater finally got involved in the spy missions once more. Meanwhile, the World Grand Prix moved to Italy, however, McQueen was too depressed to enjoy it since his argument with Mater. There, McQueen starts to understand even the best friends will argue every now and then, and he's inspired to patch up his friendship with Mater.
McQueen won the second race in Porto Corsa, Italy, although many cars were eventually damaged. Through his spy mission, Mater learned an unknown criminal mastermind was sabotaging the cars. The uninitiated public begins to ask whether Allinol is to blame, because fuel is one thing common to all cars. In response, Axelrod decided to remove Allinol from the last race, allowing the car to choose their own fuel. McQueen chose to continue with Allinol on the advice of his friend and member of Fillmore's crew pit. (Unbeknownst to McQueen, the fuel has been replaced with Fillmore's bio-fuel.) The master orders the Professor ZÃÆ'ündapp (Professor Z) to seize the opportunity and get McQueen killed, so Allinol will be blamed. Mater hears orders and tries to warn McQueen, but can not do it before it is captured and made unconscious.
During the third and final race in London, Mater escaped and continued his efforts to warn McQueen. At McQueen's hole, Mater learned that the dalang planted a bomb in his engine compartment when he was unconscious, and it would be blown up when McQueen approached, killing them both. McQueen saw Mater and approached her, hoping to pass her apology. Mater speed goes to avoid killing McQueen. McQueen pursued her, thinking that Mater was running away from guilt. Soon they are out of range of the remote control detonator. Once stopped, McQueen finally realizes that the spy mission was real after Shiftwell and McMissile appeared with Zándapp being caught. ZÃÆ'ündapp revealed that only a dalang can disable Mater bombs. The material alone incorporates the last clue and identifies the puppeteer as Miles Axelrod. This does not make sense to others until Mater explains that Axelrod wants to give alternative energy a bad name, because he has the largest untapped oil reserves in the world. Mater manages to prove this by personally forcing Axelrod to disarm the bomb personally, which makes McQueen and the others realize that Axelrod is indeed the real mastermind.
After the capture of Axelrod and his troops, it was revealed that Allinol was actually Axelrod's engineered gasoline as part of his plan to discredit alternative energy as Mater allegedly, and that Allinol McQueen's supply was diverted with Fillmore's organic fuel by Sarge, which would explain how McQueen managed to escape from radiation. Being so amazed to see Mater completely thwarting the criminal conspiracy of the world with his own intelligence, McQueen happily declares that Mater can come to all races from now on if he likes, much to Mater's pleasure. McQueen also witnessed the Mater's knight by the Queen in honor of her actions.
Back at Radiator Springs, the competitors gathered in a sporty show for the race without anything at stake. The film ends with McQueen taking first place during the Radiator Springs Grand Prix, joining Mater thanks to the new rocket booster provided by Finn and Holley.
McQueen's paint scheme is almost the same as in the first film (the big lightning is painted dark red, and the smaller bolts are threaded through the number, and have only three stickers sponsors on both sides), although modified for the World Grand Prix with a green fire on the edge his big ball and the Piston Cup logo on the hood, not from his usual Rust-Eze sponsorship. His reflective lightning decals are removed, he has a different spoiler, and the headlights and taillights are replaced with actual work lights.
Aircraft: Fire & amp; Rescue (2014)
Lightning McQueen made a cameo appearance on Planes: Fire & amp; Rescue , appeared in a photo in the newspaper that Sparky was reading.
Cars 3 (2017)
Six years after the events of the second film, the story begins with McQueen, now the winner of the Piston Cup seven times (2007-2014) and racing legends, races in the Piston Cup as pitted against his old friend, Cal Weathers and Bobby Swift all who prank each other after every race. In the last round of one race, Jackson Storm, a high-tech racer, appeared out of nowhere on the track, ahead of McQueen to win. The Storm continues to win races after the season-long race, and many veteran drivers are required to retire or be fired by their sponsors to make room for the next generation - including Cal and Bobby. During the final race of the season in Los Angeles, McQueen pushed himself too hard when trying to chase the Storm, and sent himself into a dangerous collision. Sally, Mater, Sarge, Fillmore, Luigi, and Guido, were all surprised at the horror of McQueen's crash. The premise of this movie revolves around McQueen who recovered from a previous crash and was trained by Cruz Ramirez, a technician and loyal fan of McQueen, during the offseason in hopes of returning to his racing career. His main motivation for returning to the race was to be able to enter the Florida 500 race and defeat the Storm, having been given an ultimatum by a new sponsor Sterling to permanently retire to life as a paid spokesman if he loses the next race. Sterling plans for him to retire, so he can make money from McQueen's retirement merchandise, but he hides his nature and pretends to be a fan.
After several unsuccessful attempts at training, including damaging the Sterling simulator and participating in the demolition derby, McQueen decided to search for Doc's old pit boss Smokey and finally met him at Thomasville Motor Speedway in Doc's old hometown, in what appeared to be the Great Smoky Mountains. Trained with intelligence and speed, McQueen runs the first half of the Florida 500, with Smokey as the crew chief, before pulling out and giving Cruz a chance to become a star, with him as the crew chief. Cruz and McQueen share the victory because Lightning started the race, and eventually became a sponsor under the Dinoco-Rust-Eze brand that joined in, so he won a bet with Sterling and decided to continue the race, and Cruz became his student. McQueen ended the movie with Cruz's race at Radiator Springs, now a young talent mentor while running an occasional Piston Cup race.
He returned to the type of body he had in the first film, but the paint job had a cross between the lightning seen in the first film, and the fire seen in the second film, saying that the solid colored bolt is not halftone, the Rust-Eze logo enlarged, and has more little sticker sponsorship than in the first movie. He also sports the second paint scheme before his accident (With a slightly desaturated red paint, a more modern version of the Rust-Eze logo and different lightning), a third "training" paint job in which he is darker with metallic yellow accents, and paint job " demolition derby "where all four of them are brown and numbered 15. At the end of the film, McQueen wore blue paint" Fabulous Lightning McQueen "which reminds Doc Hudson. He also keeps his work light.
