Old Town Township Raceway Park, originally known as Madison Township Raceway Park, is an American car racing facility located at Old Bridge Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, USA , (with ZIP code Englishtown), in the New York metropolitan area.

History

Raceway Park was founded in 1965 by Vincent Napoliello and Louis Napoliello. The site was originally 308 hectares at 230 Pension Road, just off County Route 527 (now Englishtown Road). Since then it has grown to 500 hectares with various motor sport activities. The track opens with a single 1/4 mile dragstrip. Raceway Park offers 2 dragstrip, 3 motocross tracks, a 1.3 mile (1.3 km) highway, a go kart racing track, an autocross railway, trips and drives, and the adjacent Old Bridge Airport.

Radio and television ads they display the slogan: "Ah ha ha ha ha ha Raceway Park!" and "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...! Raceway Park" is one of the most famous drag track in America, and its ranking was among the top five tracks of the country ".

Raceway Park previously hosted SuperNational from the National Hot Rod Association for Funny Car and Top Fuel competitions, as well as other drag racing events. In January 2018, NHRA and Raceway Park officials announced that the venue would stop hosting all drag racing events due to rising costs. The special area for drag racing will be converted to an outdoor concert hall. All other facility areas will continue to operate, such as drift tracks, go karts, motocross, etc.

The 1/8-mile track is the host of junior dragsters and a "trophy" class.

The 1/4-mile track is the host of everything from road-driven vehicles to the fastest in sports, top fuel pullers.

Motocross

The riding surfaces on the motocross exercise track are mostly soft clay, known as one of the best surfaces for a fun ride, and a bit slanted to allow drainage. Tracks are also regularly maintained to keep the faces leaps, bowls, and ups of rutting and cupping out. This track provides long straight paths for both speed and challenging obstacles such as outside cambers, banks, balustrades, trenches, and more.

Drifting

Drifting is organized by a company called ClubLoose; they have been running activities there since 2002, which started in the parking lot, but now only take place on the street. With different classes ranging from introductory, medium, and top level that allows tandeming with other drivers on the track simultaneously. Both the car and the equipment used by each driver are checked before being allowed to participate. The rear-wheel drive car is the only car that will pass the technical inspection of ClubLoose.

Event schedule

Raceway Park offers a series of car shows, concerts, mud runs, motocross, and swap exchange events throughout their season. In the past every Wednesday and vote Friday night, they hold a Time Examination in which the track is open to anyone who wants to race cars, bikes, etc. To practice.

' Aturan helm

There are special helmet specifications required during the race at Englishtown. Englishtown follows NHRA regulations.

The Book of NHRA Rules 2010 Read as follows for Helmets and Goggles: As outlined by the Class Requirements, drivers in all classes, including motorcycles, must wear helmets meeting the Snell or SFI Specifications. SFI Spec 31.1A = Snell SA, SFI Spec 31.2A = Snell SA helmet, SFI Full-face helmet Spec 41.1A = Snell M, SFI open-face helmet Spec 41.2A = Snell M, full-face helmet

Full face helmet is required for all cars that have a 1/4 mile 9.99 or faster. Helmet protector is mandatory for any car that is 7.49 & amp; faster.

Cars that run at 13.99 or faster must use the meeting helmets of Snell 2000, 2005, 2007 or SFI 31.1A, 31.2A, 31.1/2005, 41.1A, 41.2A or 41.1/2005 Specs.

For Drivers in supercharged cars, front-engine, open bodied and Cute Car must wear meeting helmets Snell SA2000, SA2005 or SFI 31.1A, 31.2A, or 31.1/2005 Specs.

Dress Code When Drag Racing

According to Raceway Park, you should wear trousers (no shorts are allowed). Sweat pants are allowed to wear, but can not be made from Nylon. Also all the clothes worn must have an arm. No tank tops are allowed to be worn during the race.

Car Supported by Forced Induction

For all Turbo charged cars, Supercharged, or using Nitrous Oxide, drivers must wear a fire jacket or they will not be able to race. (This is only the case for non-factory vehicles.The turbo or supercharged vehicle is excluded unless upgraded.) The nitrous vehicle should stay.

Incidents and accidents

  • In June 2008, Nitro Funny Car driver Scott Kalitta was killed during the NHRA Supernational qualification in dragstrip.
  • In June 2010, Funny Car Alcohol driver Neal Parker Park was killed during the NHRA Supernational qualification in dragstrip.
