Format
Mini challenge
In mini challenge, each contestant is required to perform different tasks with different requirements and time constraints. Winning mini challenges are sometimes rewarded with several advantages in key challenges.
Main Challenges
The main challenge requirements vary by episode, and can be individual or group challenges. The main challenge winners also receive a "special" prize for their victory. In the past, the challenge winners have been given prizes including special designer outfits, holidays, cruises, and quality cosmetic items.
The goals of each major challenge involve new themes and results. Challenges focus on the ability of returned contestants to once again present themselves in front of the camera, performing with music, or performing with humor. Season 1 looks at focusing on the group's ability to work well together, while season 2 is based on more individual challenges in which contestants are back dependent on themselves and performance alone. Just like RuPaul's Drag Race, the first season episode of the All Stars is followed by the Untucked episode every week, giving viewers a glimpse backstage drama and discussion among the returning contestants. For the second and third seasons, the contestants experimented themselves backstage about who they would choose to get rid of, serving as mini-Untucked because there was not a separate Untucked event for the season.

Season 1 (2012)
Drag Race RuPaul: All Stars is the first All-Star season RuPaul's Drag Race and aired on the Logo network on October 22, 2012. Cast members announced on August 6th.
This season featured two contestants who returned representing all four seasons for an opportunity to be inducted into the "Drag Race" Hall of Fame. The series airs six episodes, each one hour long. Contestants are judged on their "charisma, uniqueness, courage, and talent", and because they compete in a two-person team, as well as "synergies." The winner receives a supply of MAC cosmetics, "one of a kind travel" and $ 100,000. The theme song that plays during the runway of each episode is "Sexy Drag Queen" (dootdoot 'doot-swift' remix) and the song played during the credits is "Responitrannity" (Matt Pop edit), the last of which is originally from the album RuPaul Glamazon .
The judges each gave their opinion on the performances of the contestants in the main challenge and on the runway before RuPaul announced which queen was the winner of the episode and which had the weakest appearance. Season 2 (2016)
The second season of All Stars was announced in 2015 and began filming soon after Season 8. The event will begin airing on August 25, 2016. Along with the announcement of the season premiere, the All Stars 2 players are revealed. The cast of the event consists of 10 returning contestants, including Adore Delano, Alaska, Alyssa Edwards, Coco Montrese, Detox, Ginger Minj, Katya, Phi Phi O'Hara, Roxxxy Andrews and Tatianna.
A new twist revealed for this season changed the event format. In the previous season, the two lowest performing queens had to "Lip-sync for the Life" to avoid elimination. This season has two best performing queens of the "Lip-sync for their Legacy" challenge, with the winner of lip-sync making $ 10,000 and choosing one of the lower queens to be eliminated. However, as they exit, RuPaul suggests the first four queens are eliminated that they will have a chance to return their "revenge".

Season 3 (2018)
On August 21, 2017, VH1 announced it will air its third season of the series in early 2018.
On October 13, 2017, VH1 announced that a special hour, Exclusive Ru Ruu Ruins of Queen RuVeal , will air on October 20, 2017, announce the contestants again this season. The ten contestants who competed in the third season of the All Stars included Aja, BenDeLaCreme, Chi Chi DeVayne, Kennedy Davenport, Milk, Morgan McMichaels, Shangela, Thorgy Thor, Trixie Mattel, and the surprise of 10 queens BeBe Zahara Benet. On December 14, 2017, it was announced that the third season will premiere on January 25, 2018.
A new twist on how the top seasons of the season were voted revealed in the last episode season. The queen who had previously been eliminated in the final and picked the top two of the four remaining finalists, from there on two queens with the most votes going forward and the others then eliminated.
