Adidas Predator is a series of soccer shoes developed by German sportswear manufacturer Adidas based on the prototype concept of former Australian footballer Craig Johnston. A common feature of the Predator range is the presence of patches or rubber strips on the top of the shoe, designed to improve friction between the boot and the ball. At the end of 2010, Adidas designed a new "Power-spine" technology, which claimed increased shot power by reducing the number of legs bending backwards as he kicked the ball.

In 2014, Hungarian inventor LÃÆ'¡szlÃÆ'³ Oroszi won a court case against Adidas in relation to Predator Precision range, forcing Adidas to pay royalties in the boot range.

The Predator line was suspended in May 2015 for football but brought back in late 2017 to replace ACE shoes, while the rugby line is still strong. The new elite level predator that was brought back by adidas was named Predator 18, which featured the top primeknit with unlimited designs like at Ace 16 and 17. The insole boost used on Ace 17 is also used in new predators. There are laced variants that are also available.

Konsepnya

Football player Craig Johnston retired from the match in 1988 to return to his home country, Australia, to help take care of his severely injured brother. While training a group of schoolchildren in Australia, he found the idea of using rubber rather than leather to build a ridge over the soccer shoes, theoretically, helping to control the ball.

Johnston spent a lot of time and money developing prototypes and experimenting with designs. The design was rejected by various sports shoe manufacturers, including Adidas. He then persuaded German footballer Franz Beckenbauer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Paul Breitner to be filmed while using his prototype boots in snowy conditions. This is enough to convince Adidas to take Johnston's design, buying the rights with Johnston receiving 2% of all sales.

Predicate Elements Predators have evolved over time. The principle behind the project, however, involves mounting a rubber strip to the forefoot that Adidas says increases the speed of the ball. The initial focus in Predator ads is on the power of shooting, but this gradually moves more into the effect on ball spin and precision. The first predator is also available without a Predator element with a different name. While Predators are made of black kangaroo skin with white stripes and red elements, the shoes are equivalent without black Predator technology with white stripes and blue accents. The precision equation, however, is black and white only, while the Supernova (Predator Mania without the Predator element) is black with a hat or silver or gold heel lines. David Beckham wore these boots for most of his career, as did Zinedine Zidane.

Original Predator

The original Adidas Predator is made of leather. It features a rubber back. It only comes in several colors, black with white stripes and red accents. This color scheme is now known as the main one for all predators. The first goal scored by professional footballers using Predator shoes in a top level match was by John Collins for Celtic in April 1994. He scored the opening goal in a 1-1 draw at Ibrox Stadium against Rangers, straight from a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area.

Rapier

Predator Rapiers (so named because most footballers can kick them) is also the first Adidas football boots available in different colors. Until then, Adidas football shoes are made of black leather. The Rapier, however, also (as a limited series) is available in white and red, like the next two models. Beginning with Mania, Adidas began producing Predator shoes with countless color variations. Moreover, one color is called the style of David Beckham.

Touch

The Predator touch differs in many ways. It features a Traxion (trx) button, which is rectangular and anatomical. Previously, the buttons were always round. For professional players who prefer long buttons, Adidas produces a special Predator with different outsoles.

Accelerator

The Predator Accelerator version was released in 1998 to coincide with the FIFA World Cup held in France. It features TRX (traxion) outsoles that are reengineered, asymmetrical lacerations, rubber molds of legs sewn into the skin, and insole "feet you wear". It has been regarded as one of the best boots Adidas produced to date. Booting is modeled by some of the biggest players like Alessandro Del Piero, Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham.

Adidas Predator Accelerator comes out in four different colors:

  • White/black
  • Black/Red/White
  • Red/black
  • Yellow electricity (limited to 999 pairs worldwide)

Two generations of this boot are produced: Version '98 can be distinguished by two red patches on the heels, while the '99 version does not have a red patch on the heels.

Furthermore, the same model was released in black/blue but without the "Predator" element. This is a slightly cheaper alternative to Predator Accelerator. This version is simply called Adidas Accelerator.

Precision

The Predator Precision introduces a replaceable Traxion button fitted with a one-minute screw tightening. These buttons are available in various lengths that allow the boot to be adjusted to soil conditions as possible with classic ground-soft screw-in buttons. However, there are some reliability issues, because the studs will be loosened quite frequently, requiring a more constant treatment than the classical screws. In 2001 came a completely revised model that had a similar configuration and colourway strip but the predator technology was revised and gave birth to more similarities with Predator Accelerators.

Controversy surfaced above the line-striped zone that steered the ball in 2002 when the inventor of Hungarian football equipment LÃÆ'¡szlÃÆ'³ Oroszi unveiled a copyright suit against Adidas. Oroszi had registered a patent in Hungary in 1996, explaining that the striped zones on the shoe ends allow players to shoot more accurately. Representative Oroszi presented the patent to Adidas in 1998, but Adidas rejected the offer that claimed it did not fit their concept for the new Predator Predator shoes . Finally in 2014, the Hungarian Court ruled that Adidas had incorporated deisgn Oroszi into their Predator Precision shoes and that he was entitled to compensation.

Mania

Adidas released Predator Mania to coincide with the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan. They design it with the style of "Far East" in mind, so it has a sharp corner style and comes in various color schemes in addition to the traditional black-red design. These include "champagne," champagne-white, and "champagne gold", gold as white pearls, though only the background and heel of the cup is gold. It's worn by David Beckham, Alessandro Del Piero and RaÃÆ'ºl. It is available at XTRX Blades for use in soft soil, which comes with stud lock and can be loosened or tightened on the owner's comfort as well as a hard red grounding knife for hard surfaces. It can not be removed and fixated on boot. The limited edition version was also released in "Japan Blue" and was worn by Alex from the Japanese national team during the tournament. During the 2002-03 season, they also released red versions with Adidas stripes in silver.

Problems with the reliability of XTRX Blades means the revised version was released at the end of 2003, which incorporates minor changes to the layout and button design. In addition to this, with revisions, Adidas also released traditional screw boots in studs that were previously only available to professional players who have special designed boots by Adidas. Two new colors released: "lunar", which came out in March 2003, and "gun metal", which was released on time for the 2003-04 season. The final revision of this boot comes with the release of the only HG (Hard Ground), which is the same as FG, except that the buttons are black instead of red and joined and stronger with boots intended for use on third generation and synthetic surfaces. "Blue Mania" is only released in small quantities, especially in North American, Japanese and Korean markets; they are rare in Europe.

With the success of Mania in 2002, Adidas launched a budget version of the boot called Manado . It displays all the key characteristics of the Mania boot but with minor cosmetic differences. Cheaper veal skin is used compared to kangaroo leather skin that is Mania . There is also a difference in the size and length of the tongue on each boot, compared with the Mania and the protillant achillies on the heels of non-plastic. The difference in buttons and dye from the lower palm is also evident, although the difference may be difficult to see at a glance, Manados is often mistaken for Manias even though the recommended retail price of Manados is Ã, Â £ 60, contrary to Ã, Â £ 120 from Manias .

With differences in skin and other features, Predator Mania FG is intended as the top of the range Predator . With a line that was stopped at the end of 2003, the shoe was long gone. There is a retro version released in 2017 in champagne color, a limited number make people sell it on eBay for a very expensive price.

Pulses

The Predator Pulse was introduced at the end of 2003, before UEFA Euro 2004. The first colors released were black and red (original). This predator is the first boot that includes what is called Adidas Power Pulse System , and only Predator Pulse which can not be changed to the original insole.

Adidas introduced PowerPulse in Predator Pulse at the end of 2003, and continued with Predator Absolute in November 2005. Adidas claims that the PowerPulse sockliner shifts the center of gravity of the boot closer to the point of impact, which they say is offered a firmer shot to the goal. Most of the absolute PowerPulse is 40g, but only the Red version is 60g.

A very limited edition of this released boot is called the David Yang Ying Yang Ying box. Only 723 of these pairs are released and appear in the md wood glass display box with a small book. The retail price is Ã, Â £ 699 in the UK for this set of boxes but is now highly sought after by collectors.

Absolute

"Predator Absolute" was introduced in mid-2006, just before the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The first color scheme is black/red, white/gold and blue/white. This predator is the first with a revampable PowerPulse sockliners that allow a sockliner exchange between normal 40g and lighter weight, without any intentional weight added. Adidas made a gold/white Absolute for Zinedine Zidane to celebrate his last international tournament.

PowerSwerve

With Predator PowerSwerve at the end of 2007, Adidas introduced the foam material they call Smartfoam. They claim it gives the Predator elements more power rebound, bend, and improve control through the ball contact again. Zinedine Zidane helped develop the new Predator PowerSwerve boot. After ending his active career, he teamed up with adidas innovation team (a.i.t) in further evolution of the new boot. Scientific tests have shown that, compared to its predecessors, the PowerSwerve Predator can reach up to eight percent more banked and increase the power behind each shot by about three percent. The Dynamic PowerPulse technology in the boot soles and special hi-tech foams on the front of the forefoot allows this improvement. The PowerPulse element is filled with a tungsten powder, which shifts the weight towards the point of impact, allowing the player to put more power behind each shot.

Powerswerve Special is the rugby version of this series. It has a wider end in boot buttons and hybrid rugby.

Predator X

Adidas shoes "Predator X" introduced at the end of 2009 have Powerspine technology, Predator elements and a number of advances from Adidas, all aimed for better performance. Adidas developed a new top material which they call skin Taurus . Adidas Predator X's boots are the first Predator to remove the tongue, which according to Adidas improves performance. They claim it reduces the material between the ball and the boot to give it a better feel of the ball, and that the new boot collar provides a safer fit.

Predator RX is a special rugby version, with the last special vamp predator and wider rugby.

Footballers like David Beckham, Xavi, Robin van Persie, Michael Ballack, RaÃÆ'ºl, Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt, Kolo Tourà ©  ©, Edwin van der Sar, Petr? Ech, Brad Friedel, Anderson and EiÃÆ'  ° ur GuÃÆ'  ° johnsen have all been used by Adidas Predators. Zinedine Zidane tests and reviews the latest version of the Predator range (Predator X).

Adidas released Predator X on a traditional black/white/red colourway, with a contrasting white/brown/yellow colourway to accompany him. Later, Adidas released other colors including David Beckham's specially designed white/red color, with dragon designs on Rubber Predator elements; also released is blue/white/red. For the 2010 World Cup, Adidas released a black/sun color to follow the colourway they use for their three boot styles (F50 adiZero and adiPure), then white/sky/cyan and back/white/cyan colourways, followed by another David Beckham designed Collegiate Red/White colourway.

For the 2010-11 season winter, Adidas released Predator X in two new colourways, electric/black/poppy and black/Running-White/electric; David Beckham will also get another private colourway in white/blue. Steven Gerrard has been given a choice for the Miadidas Predator which he personalizes as black/gold/red.

AdiPower Predator

Released in May 2011, Adidas adiPower Predator sees a focus shift for the Predator range with the release of the new adiPower. Powerspine technology has been maintained, providing greater shooting power by minimizing energy loss. The Predator element on the boot's back has been broken into two performance zones. The power zone incorporates 3D fins for power, while the silicon rubber Predator element provides control of redirects and balls. The AdiPower Predator now features an outsole Sprint Frame, originally made for the F50, making it 25% lighter than Predator X. Cocoa Real Madrid and Nani Manchester United wear the Predator adiPower.

The adiPower, like other Adidas football boots released in 2011, is facing a price increase, with the RRP set as Ã, £ 155 in the UK and $ 200 in the United States. It weighs 7.8 ounces.

Adipower Predator SL

Adidas Adipower Predator SL was released on June 24, 2011 as the lightest Predator, offered in black/blue at a retail price of $ 250 USD. This Predator Incarnation uses the revolutionary SprintSkin used in the popular line of F50 Adizero and weighs only 211 grams.

Predator Slow Zone

Released in May 2012, but previously tested by professionals in a blackout version, the next Predator will be called LZ because of five "deadly zones" on boots. Previously referred to as D5 because the same five zones were called deadly, Adidas changed the name in the build up to their release. In the change for Predator, they will have a top synthetic leather and this will be the first Predator shoe with miCoach ability. The LZ Predator has the same SprintFrame configuration feature and stud found in some other ranges such as adipure and F50 adiZero. The first zone is called "first touch". It's on the front of the boot. It should give the wearer a good first touch. The second zone is called "dribble". It's on the boot side and it should give you a better touch. The third is called "drive". This is a classic predator zone in the striking legs, used for long tracks under field and stronger shots. The fourth is called "pass". It consists of extra foam with a bit of tacky material in a passing zone. The latter is called the "sweet spot". Be on the side of your big toe and help twist and cut.

In November 2012, Adidas launched a new lightweight version of the Predator LZ, precisely called the Predator LZ SL. Boot still features Lethal Zones, miCoach technology, and the same footprint. It is in the upper material where they are distinguished. Instead of using the S-L Hybrid seen in the regular LZ, Adidas uses a thinner SprintSkin on the back of the LZ SL. The boot is weighing in at 7.3oz.

In May 2013, Adidas officially released the latest version of Predator LZ, named Predator LZ II, and launched by several players in Europe, including Pepe Reina from Naples; Chelsea Fernando Torres, Oscar and Petr? Ech; Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal, Mesut ÃÆ'-zil and Per Mertesacker; Real Madrid ÃÆ'ngel In MarÃÆ'a and Xabi Alonso; and Manchester United's Juan Mata. First released in green Ray, the new generation Predator offers a new rubber dead zone that adds friction between your foot and the ball for ultimate control, touch, passing and shooting. Other features include the HybridTouch top designed for optimal performance in all weather conditions and the Traxion 2.0 stud configurations and SprintFrame footprint.
