Breath of Fire 6: Hakury? no Shugosha-tachi (Japanese: ????????? 6 ???????? , Hepburn: Breath of Fire 6: Guardians of White Dragon is a free web-based multiplayer online role-playing video game to play with microtransactions developed and published by Capcom as the sixth major installment of the series Breath of Fire. The game was released in Japan on February 24, 2016 for Microsoft Windows computers and Android devices, with the following iOS release on July 12, 2016. Online operation for the official title stops on September 27, 2017.

Gameplay
Breath of Fire 6 is an online action role playing game where players create hero characters that they can customize in appearance, gender and skills. Both characters and environments are presented using two-dimensional graphics, with players traveling across multiple environments fighting enemies and taking part in the story. They are accompanied by AI-controlled partners called "Fellows" who form their party to help complete missions, while multiplayer missions allow up to four players to join together. Classes of heroes can be customized depending on the specialization of their weapons, which can branch out to other more specialized classes with stronger capabilities as they progress.
Both player and Fellows heroes can take advantage of rechargeable skills and spells that allow players to create timed combo chains, such as combining two spells into a larger one. Finally the player can unlock the ability to build a meter that allows the hero to temporarily transform into a dragon form called "D-Trance Mode" and cause even greater damage to the enemy. Players can connect to a hub village that allows them to shop for goods and equipment, chat and work together to complete a cooperative mission. Like the previous entries in the series, players can customize their own village as the game progresses.

Plot
Character
The player considers the role of the male or female hero who is the brother of Ryu (voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi), the young mayor of the town of Dragnier who disappeared after the attack by the Cruel Insidia Empire. The player is assisted by a number of supporting characters including Nina (voiced by Ky? Ko Hikami), a descendant of a human race who can turn into a gigantic bird that searches the world for her lost sister. Other residents of Dragnier and its surroundings include Gilliam (voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto), Wolba blue wolf monsters who attempt to protect his home in the forest; Amelia (voiced by Mai Nakahara), a solitary but witty conjurer of the Algar tribe who is horned with sheep; Jubei (voiced by Hiroshi Naka), an older Kamaitachi beatman archer, like a weasel acting as a suggestion dealer; Masamune (voiced by Takehito Koyasu), a Kamaitachi swordsman and an old friend of Jubei; and Peridot (voiced by Haruka Tomatsu), a traveling female musician who seems less emotional but otherwise good.
The central antagonist is a member of the Insidia Empire, led by Emperor Steinberg, who intends to use the Black Dragon power to take over the world and create lasting peace through oppression. Their main knight is Klaus (voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa), the strongest swordsman in the Empire, who joins Elise (voiced by Hitomi Nabatame), a woman who possesses the same dark powers, and Elena (voiced by Chiaki Takahashi), a mysterious woman with extensive knowledge of the dragon clan.
Story
The game lasts 1,000 years after the apocalyptic battle between the Light and Dark Dragon clans, a man with the ability to transform into a powerful dragon with enormous destructive force, ending with the actions of a mysterious young man. The resulting collapse leads to a gradual decline globally, and for many years the people of the world have created a new community, paving the way for a new era of peace. However, behind the scenes, the powerful Insidian Empire secretly disrupts the peace, overtaking the world slowly and dominating the smaller states, one by one.
One of the lands that fell under the power of the Empire was the city of Dragnier, home to their hero and brother, Ryu, who was destroyed by the Empire that destroyed all in their path. Peridot, a traveling traveler who happens to come in ruins, finds heroes in trouble and saves them. Along with the surviving citizens of their hometown, heroes and friends must rebuild their lost lands and strike back to the Empire while discovering the secret of the dragon clan.
Development
Breath of Fire 6 was first announced in August 2013 during Capcom's Network Game Conference in Japan, where it was given a tentative release date in the region for the following year. This is the first installment in the series to not debut on the home console, and is made specifically for touch-based PCs, smart phones and tablets. Capcom designed this game as "easy-to-go online RPG" with simple controls and "exciting battles", and was the first major series headline released since Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter in 2002. The title supports play online as well as a cross platform storage feature that allows players to continue their progress on separate devices. On March 31, 2016, a statement was issued by the Breath of Fire 6 development team announcing the iOS version delay from the game until the summer of 2016.
The official theme song of this game is "In Our Hands" by Haruka Tomatsu, which was released in Japan as a B-side for the single "Fantastic Soda !!" on July 30, 2014. A soundtrack album for the game was released in two volumes: the first, the 6-Fire Original Soundtrack of Fire 6-Myakudou - , available on February 24, 2016; and the second, Breath of Fire 6 Original Soundtrack -Ryuushou - followed on July 27, 2016.
Reception
Starting June 2017, this game has a rating of 1.7 out of 5 on the Google Play Store Japan.
Closure service
On September 27th, 2017 all Breath of Fire 6 services have officially ended.
