Daniel Coulter Reynolds (born July 14, 1987) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He is the lead vocalist for the rock band Imagine Dragons. Reynolds also released an EP in 2011, titled Egyptian - EP, as a duo with Aja Volkman under the Egyptian moniker. He is the recipient of the Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards Hal David Starlight.

Reynolds was born on July 14, 1987 in Las Vegas, the seventh child of nine children Christene M. (nÃÆ' Â © e Callister) and Ronald Reynolds, a lawyer and author. Both are natives of Nevada, and Reynolds is Nevadan's 4th generation. As a Scout, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2005. Reynolds is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When he was 19 years old, he volunteered to be a missionary in Nebraska for two years. Reynolds wrote the song "I Bet My Life" to celebrate and reflect on his long-term relationship with his parents. After graduating from Bonanza High School, he attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and then transferred to Brigham Young University after serving the LDS mission, where he studied communication, marketing and music and excelled academically before being expelled for having sex with his four girlfriend year. He then pursued the music.

Imagine Dragons (2008-present)

Reynolds was initially reluctant to become a professional musician, in part because future band candidates Wayne Sermon once told him: "Do not do music because you want to do music - do music if you have to do music". After he started studying at Brigham Young University, Reynolds discovered that he could not "do anything else" and was fully committed to a professional music career. In Utah, Reynolds meets and recruits drummer Andrew Tolman to form the Imagine Dragons. With Reynolds as the lead vocalist, Imagine Dragons won BYU's "Battle of the Bands" and other local competitions. Bassist Ben McKee joined the band in Las Vegas and after departure Tolman 2011 invited Daniel Platzman, also Wayne's friend from Berklee College of Music, to play drums, thus complementing the group's current lineup. The band moved to Las Vegas, where they began performing almost every night as a lounge act. It was there in 2010 that they caught their first big break when frontman The Train got sick just before the Bite of Las Vegas Festival. Imagine the Dragon being called to replace them and perform in front of a crowd of over 26,000 people. In November 2011, they signed a contract with Interscope Records and started working with Grammy award winning producer Alex da Kid.

Imagine Dragons released their debut studio album Night Visions on September 4, 2012. The album was preceded by their first single "It's Time", released on August 18, 2012. Night Visions Mapping in the top ten albums in the US in 2012, 2013, and 2014. It won the Billboard Music Award for Top Rock Album and was nominated for the Juno Award for the International Album of the Year. The album's second single, "Radioactive", reached # 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Radioactive" set an all-time record for the longest reign of the Billboard Rock Songs chart, with 23 consecutive weeks and all-time. record for the longest time on Billboard Hot 100, with 87 weeks. Imagine Dragons released their second album, Smoke Mirrors, in February 2015. Smoke Mirrors debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, UK Albums Chart, and the Canadian Albums Chart. Two of the four single albums, "I Bet My Life" and "Shots", were mapped on the Billboard Hot 100.

Imagine Dragons released their third album Evolve on June 23, 2017. Evolve debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Canada Albums Ladder. The singles "Believer", "Thunder", and "Whatever It Takes", each have charts at number 4, number 4, and number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. Believers occupied the Billboard Hot Rock Songs (29 weeks), Alternative Songs (13 weeks), and Adult Top 40 charts. Thunder also occupied Hot Rock Songs (21 weeks so far) and Alternative Songs chart (3 weeks so far), as well as Mainstream Top 40 charts. Anything Needed topped the Billboard > Rock Songs chart (8 weeks so far) and Alternative Song chart (3 weeks). In 2018, the band was nominated for two Grammy Awards and received the iHeartRadio Music Award for Alternative Rock Artists of the Year.

Egypt (2010)

When invited to perform the opening set for Nico Vega in 2010, Reynolds met Aja Volkman, the group's lead singer. He invited him to help him complete some of the demos he developed. Both began to collaborate, and formed Egypt. They recorded, produced, and independently released four eponymous EP songs digitally. They only do this material once in life.

X Ambassadors (2013)

In 2016, Dan formed Night Street Records, a brand label under Interscope Records. His first signing was the alternative hip-hop artist K.Flay.

He organized the LOVELOUD charity concert, held August 26, 2017 in Orem, to "combat teen suicide and to bring the community [...] and encourage acceptance" from LGBT youth. The concert donated profits to LGBT organizations The Trevor Project, GLAAD, and others. The action shows include Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees, Krewella, Joshua James, and Nicholas Petricca (Walk the Moon). The second LOVELOUD was announced on 2 April 2018, to be held July 28, 2018 at the Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Scheduled actions include Imagine Dragons, Zedd, Mike Shinoda (from Linkin Park), Grace VanderWaal, Tyler Glenn (from Neon Trees), Vagabon, A.W., and Cameron Esposito.

Personal life

On March 5, 2011, Reynolds married Aja Volkman. Both have three daughters; Arrow Eve Reynolds, born on August 8, 2012, and twin daughters Gia James and Coco Rae Reynolds, born March 28, 2017. On April 26, 2018, Reynolds announced that after more than seven years of marriage he and Volkman would divorce.

Reynolds suffers from ankylosing spondylitis, which he announced at Leeds First Direct Arena in 2015 during the band's 'Smoke Mirrors' tour. In 2016, he partnered with ThisASLife Novartis to raise awareness about severe inflammatory diseases. That same year, Reynolds revealed in an interview that he was very depressed over the past two years and often saw a therapist. He aims to democratize depression and seek professional help. He also suffered from ulcerative colitis since the age of 21 years. In April 2018, she began sharing her experiences with the disease on her social media account.

Since 2013, Imagine Dragons with Tyler Robinson's family has supported The Tyler Robinson Foundation, helping young people fight cancer. Imagine Dragons has also partnered with Do The Write Thing: The National Campaign to Stop Violence, Amnesty International "Bringing Human Rights", OneOrlando's Fund "All Is One Orlando Concert Orlando", and Crackle's "Crackle-Based Playback" (S1 E2). In 2015, Imagine Dragons released the song "I Was Me" with all proceeds coming into the One4 project to help escape from refugees, especially in the Middle East. He also helped set up LoveLoud Fest to benefit LGBTQ organizations.
