The Fist of Fear, Touch of Death , also known as The Dragon and the Cobra, is a 1980 martial art film made in 1979 World Karate Championship "at Madison Square Garden that is supposedly going to determine the" successor "to Bruce Lee. The film is hosted by Adolph Caesar. Bruce Lee died before the film was produced, and any recording that featured Lee was taken from previous films or television appearances. The film is considered a film of exploitation, exploiting Bruce Lee's popularity, and the mystique surrounding his death.

Plot
TV reporter Adolph Caesar is outside Madison Square Garden before the start of a martial arts tournament that is likely to determine Bruce Lee's "successor". She interviewed Aaron Banks martial arts promoter, who said that Lee was actually killed by a kung fu movement called "The Touch of Death." The bank described the move as effective in "three to four weeks." The segment contains a flashback sequence to Bruce Lee as if to support the Bank's statement.
From inside Madison Square Garden, Caesar discussed the competitors. He talks about Bruce Lee's legacy, and shows what he describes as an "interview record" he did with Lee shortly before his death. Then, Caeser blinks back to the beginning of the day, in which the star of action Fred Williamson looks to have to traverse through a number of obstacles to get to the tournament while repeatedly mistaken as Harry Belafonte. Furthermore, Ron Van Clief was also profiled and interviewed. Van Clief was then seen rescuing a woman from rape in a New York park.
The center of the film is devoted to "The Bruce Lee Story," a history of Bruce Lee's early years in China, where he was described as "karate crazy," which worries parents. The recording of this part of the story is from the 1957 Bruce Lee Thunderstorm , which has also been redubbed. This presentation action states that Lee is studying karate to live up to the legacy of his great-grandfather, who is "one of China's greatest Samurai masters" (anachronism because China does not actually have a Samurai, this is actually a Japanese soldier). Lee's grandfather's life was also depicted in this action at alternating points, in scenes raised from Invincible Super Chan. Later, Lee left home and got a career as an actor. This segues into Bill Louie's scene, dressed up as Kato from The Green Hornet, saving two jogging girls from being raped by a gang near World War II warnings in Battery Park in broad daylight. This segment ends after Louie apparently kills the last conscious gang member with a throwing star.
After Caesar announced the conclusion of "The Bruce Lee Story," the film switched back to Madison Square Garden, where a number of players were featured. Caesar interviewed Fred Williamson, who denounced the contest idea to determine Bruce Lee's successor.
The end of the grande was devoted to a two-round kickboxing match, where Louis Neglia ruled as the winner. Adolph Caesar concludes the film with the last thought.

Criticism
Fist of Fear, Touch of Death is routinely denounced by fans of martial arts films because of his ignorance not only from the facts of Bruce Lee's life but also the apathy towards Chinese culture (karate and samurai are always referred to as people China, although they are actually Japanese). Fans are also usually disappointed to learn that Bruce Lee has no real involvement in the film (released 7 years after his death), despite the fact that his face is always on the posters and DVD boxes for the film.
Typical reactions are from the "Movies on Attic" website:
"I can not even explain how frightening Fist Of Fear Touch Of Death, the worst part is how he insulted the intelligence of the viewer who even enjoyed a little Bruce Lee movie. We heard Bruce Lee's grandfather was a samurai. (The fact that samurai came from Japan and Bruce Lee is Chinese) Just adds to the overall foolishness Oh and then we get the recording Bruce Lee explained to his mother that he beat people because of the samurai grandfather's tradition, what made this film so bad is that this recording was taken like a soap opera and then connected with a samurai movie that bad.. Actually I take back the samurai movie may be good but brought in this direction only shows up to the whole environment is useless.Sunsonson wasted, the tournament footage is not excited and Bill Louie cameo really stupid. This is without a doubt the worst movie I've ever seen. "
On the Bruceploitation website, "Keith" calls this movie the worst Bruceploitation of all time.
