RuPaul's Drag U

RuPaul's Drag U (as in "Drag University") is an American reality television series that debuted on July 19, 2010, on TV Logo. The final episode aired in August 2012. The event was hosted by RuPaul and the transvestite "professor" team. Drag U is a spin-off of RuPaul's Drag Race . RuPaul was confirmed on May 8, 2013 via Twitter that the series has been canceled.

Format

In every episode of RuPaul's Drag U, three women were given a drag makeover and were taught to access their "inner diva". Each of these faux queens is assessed and evaluated on the "Drag Point Average" (DPA): D transform rag, P erformance and A ttitude setting. Contestants with the highest DPA win. RuPaul is the "President" of Drag U. Unlike in RuPaul's Drag Race , he does not appear in a drag. The regular judges in the first season are "Dean Drag" Lady Bunny and "Dean of Dance" Frank Gatson, Jr. For the second season, Lady Bunny returned as "Dean of Drag", and various choreographers played throughout the season as "Dean of Dancing". Each episode features one celebrity guest judge, who is usually female.

Seasons

Season 1 (2010)

The episode begins with RuPaul introducing three "students" to the drag professor who is assigned to each episode. The students meet RuPaul, who explains the competition, and then asks them to "walk this way" into the Drag Lab. The students then meet with their professors, who ask some intimate questions and try to find out what has brought them to Drag U. RuPaul presents every student with their drawing and name "Dragulator", and allows students and professors to start working on their drawings. Each episode includes an "extra credit" game in which students can earn special rewards. They then took part in dancing lessons with Dean Dance to study the choreography for their performances. On "Draguation Day", women propped up their things on the runway, performed their designated songs and routine dances, and were judged by the judges at DPA. The student with the highest DPA wins and is presented with a diploma and boa feather from his drag professor, performing the theme song of the show.

Season 3 (2012)

Season 3 Drag U RuPaul starts airing in June 2012 on the logo network. Season 3 brings back professors and newcomers from season three and four from Drag Race RuPaul. In the third season of Drag U, RuPaul segment "A Word from RuPaul" is changed to include a word definition. "Drag Tips" continues, featuring new professors every week, and Lady Bunny continues to host "Lady Lessons".
